Selected Exercise
__________________________________________
Shoulder external rotation Upper arm rotates backward towards table without shoulder blade motion. Keep your elbow bent at a right angle (90 degrees) the entire time. Arm should be orientated away from your body so that your elbow is in line with the top of your shoulder. Your elbow should be resting on 1-2 hand towel rolls. Only move as far as you can before your entire shoulder (versus just your upper arm) starts moving. You can monitor this by placing your opposite hand on top of your exercising shoulder. Also LOOK at your moving shoulder to ensure your elbow stays bent at 90 and that you are performing this exercise correctly. While performing this exercise, be present and move slowly and controlled the entire time to get the most out of this drill. *Hint* If you are not performing this exercise with a weight, you shouldn't feel much. This is an awareness drill for your shoulder stabilizers.
